Dear MASFSA Members,
Warm winter greetings to all of you. As you start planning your calendar for 2010 be sure to include the 6th MASFSA conference in Traverse City, May 16-18, 2010. It will be held at the beautiful Grand Traverse Resort. This is a great family vacation place. If you want to come early and spend the entire weekend you will be able to get the MASFSA conference rate. They have a 15,000-square foot Indoor Water Playground. This includes a 16-foot tall, 70-foot long waterslide, waterwalk, zero-depth sprayground (for the little ones), and water basketball nets. In addition to the swimming pools and water features, there is a spa, three golf courses, a child care center, & dog care. You can get more information at their web site www.grandtraverseresort.com
We have some exciting things planned and you will be hearing about them soon. We listened to your suggestions from last year’s conference and incorporated them in the Traverse City conference. Thank you for your input. Our goal is to make this conference interesting and informative for each of you.
We are very enthused to have Roger Reece as our keynote speaker. You can watch online videos here: www.fuddwhacker.com/video-download.html. He will teach us all how to survive in a fragile economy in a humorous and engaging way.
The MASFSA board and I are immensely grateful to last year’s conference committee for all their efforts. This year’s committee has already been hard at work and I want to thank them for the work they have already done. The conference committee members this year are Duane Barber, Kristi Hallett, & Christine Ruszel from Northwestern Michigan College and Teesha Montague from Washtenaw Community College and of course Audrey Atkins from NCO.
It is exciting to see more of our members using the MASFSA listserv at masfsa@list.emich.edu .I encourage you all to use this resource. Stay tuned as we are upgrading the MASFSA web site. Please contact me with any concerns or if you are interested in serving on the board next year.
On behalf of myself and the MASFSA Board of Directors, we wish you and your family a safe, peaceful, and happy holiday break.
Best Wishes,
Holly Furlo, President 2009-2010
